Just a quick note to let you know DIVAS WHO DINE has been
using Twitter – and if you’re using it, you should follow us.

We’re going to be using it to collaborate with others,
start discussions, and get input… and we’d REALLY
like it if you were connected to us.

(Twitter is free, and it’s simple to use… very
low hassle factor, and very cool that it’s free.)

Here’s a good “quickstart” primer from
Tony Hsieh, the CEO of Zappos… on how to get
started in just a few minutes:

the new DIVAS WHO DINE blog. You’ll like them.

Send us a note to say hello inside of Twitter
once you’re on.

And finally, learn how to USE Twitter. It’s
getting big, and it’s going to be an important
way to market and stay in touch with customers

The Turtle Bay Resort on Hawaii’s North Shore in Oahu is the ideal spot for a three-day weekend getaway especially if you live in Los Angeles, like I do. We booked a 850 square foot beach cottage and it was scrumptious. It featured an amazing ocean view/access, private lanai, king-size bed, jacuzzi-tub, plasma TV, wet-bar and great sound system.
We flew United from LAX to Honolulu International Airport in Oahu. the flight was about five hours.

Here’s the Jet-Set Fashionista Three-Day Weekend intinerary:

FRIDAY

  • Arrived at Honolulu Airport , rented a car at Advantage.
  • Drove the scenic hour and a half ride to the North Shore, and checked into our beautiful cottage just in time for the Friday night luau.
  • Attended the Voyages of Polynesia Dinner Show/Luau at the resort at 7:30p
  • Relaxed in the jacuzzi tub with a glass of Moet with a splash of chambord and some complimentary island fruit the hotel delivered to our door when we checked in.
  • Went to bed and fell asleep to the rhythmic sound of the crashing waves outside.

SATURDAY

  • Worked out in resort gym
  •

  • Ate breakfast at the Palm Terrace
  • Went to Spa Luana and had a Pineapple Pedicure and a 50 minute Luana massage
  • Drove to Waimea Falls Park for a scenic hike
  •

  • Went back to resort, took a nap and got ready for dinner
  • Had dinner at 21 Degrees North, the resort’s upscale restaurant. (The scallops, fresh fish selections and wine pairing menu are all very good!)

SUNDAY

  • Woke up and jogged along the beach
  • Ate breakfast at Palm Terrace
  •

  • Went for a swim
  •

  • Packed, checked out, went to the airport
  •

  • Flew home relaxed and energized.

In Hollywood, salads aren’t just a meal, they are a way of life. Everyone knows that in order to look fabulous, you have to eat healthy foods regularly. This is a quick and tasty salad to add to your diet.

I call this the 1970’s Salad because it has sunflower seeds in it, which remind me of hippies from my childhood.

Here’s the recipe:

Ingredients:

1 Bag (or one head) of Romaine lettuce

1 Bag of mixed baby lettuce or baby greens

1 cup of cooked Applewood smoked bacon

1 cup of raisins

1 cup of sunflower seeds.

1 cup of croutons

1 cucumber (peeled and sliced)

1/2 of a red onion

Your favorite brand of ranch dressing ( I like Gerards) or I sometimes use Annie’s Goddess Dressing.

Directions:

1. Mix the two types of lettuce together in a salad bowl

2. Add the rest of the ingredients EXCEPT for dressing

3. Toss.

4. Toss in dressing when you are ready to serve it.**Do not add the dressing until you are ready to serve it or you’ll have soggy salad.

***Recessionista Tip: I sometimes make this salad on a Friday night, eat half with dinner and save the rest for a Saturday afternoon snack.

One of my best friends Barrie-Lynn is the famous Cheese Impressario.

She is so fabulous that I introduced her to my buddies DJ Paul and Juicy J from Three 6 Mafia (they won the Academy Award for that song, “It’s Hard Out There For A Pimp”) and they hired her to be their official cheese consultant.

She’s hosted parties for many other famous Oscar-winners and she has also hosted parties for me at Castle Ivar (aka DIVA Headquarters).

She gave me the secret to a super-fast easy cheese plate. Here’s what you do…
